Root Canal Therapy
End your tooth pain for good with root canal therapy
What is Root Canal Therapy
Root canals are one of the most common dental procedures performed – over 15 million a year in the USA alone. A root canal can often save your tooth from extraction, preventing the need for bridges or dental implants. A root canal is performed when there is an infection or inflammation in the roots of a tooth.
Why Advanced Dental Care of Dover
No one wants to get a root canal, especially from a doctor they’ve never met before. Thankfully, our patients never experience this problem because our doctors perform root canals right in our Dover office. So, while you may have to have a root canal, you already know and are comfortable with the staff who will be working on your tooth!
If you have any of the following symptoms, please call our office immediately:
Persistent Tooth Pain
Can be felt in the tooth itself, the jaw, face, or even in other teeth.
Sensitivity to Heat or Cold
A dull ache or sharp pain when eating or drinking something cold or hot is a sign that the nerves and blood vessels in your tooth are infected.
Painful to Touch
A tooth sensitive to physical touch should be examined immediately.
Chipped or Cracked Tooth
If you have a chipped or cracked tooth, see Dr. Civitello immediately! A timely appointment may mean the difference between needing a root canal or not.
Tooth Discoloration
The tooth may appear grayish black.
Swollen Gums
Swelling of your gums around the infected tooth may come and go, but it is a sign that you may need a root canal. The swollen gums may or may not be sensitive to touch.
Wiggly Tooth
Adult teeth should not move. Period. The sooner a root canal is performed, the quicker your pain is gone!
Please do not delay an appointment for fear of pain – you’re only prolonging the discomfort you’re currently feeling. Call our dental office today if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms.
